Keep Bugs at Bay and Light Up Your Garden!

Saturday, August 23, 2025

11:00 a.m.2:00 p.m.

Are gnats and mosquitoes crashing your summer evenings in the garden? Want to add a warm, inviting glow to your outdoor space at dusk? Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll craft your natural insect-repellent candles using citronella essential oil, soy wax, and beeswax. Personalize your candle by bringing flowers and small garden treasures to embed in your beautiful and functional creation!

NYC Parks GreenThumb hosts this event. We are proud to be the nation’s most extensive urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
