Description: Join the Stewardship team for our very first public Tree Census count of 2025! Every 10 years, volunteers all around NYC help us identify, count, and assess our tree population. This year, volunteers will be helping us inventory our trees found within Parks and playgrounds. NYC Parks will provide volunteers with materials and training to help volunteers identify trees. No prior experience necessary, just a willingness to give your tree a big hug! Using our Tree Census app, volunteers will split up into different zones within the park to start counting trees! You should expect to count trees for approximately one to two hours. After completing your first training event, you are welcome to continue counting trees on your own in smaller parks across the city. Note: Registration is required for this workshop. Volunteers will also have to download our app and have a smartphone with GPS capability. Pre-registered volunteers will receive information for downloading and logging into your Tree Census account one week prior to the event.
